A legendary victory at “TiVolley”,
Ljubljana, 11 March 2010 – Almost exactly three years after the historic victory of ACH Volley for the Top Teams Cup in famous Modena in 2007 , ACH Volley again achieved another legendary victory last night at the Tivoli Hall in Ljubljana. With this exceptional victory against the Hypo Tirol team from Innsbruck and the so called “Golden Set”, ACH Volley entered the final tournament of the four best European volleyball clubs that will take place on 10 and 11 April in Lodz, Poland. ACH Volley will play against the Trentino Club from Italy, last year's Euro League champions.
The game last night was, with the exception of a slight setback in the second set, a real volleyball fairytale. More than 4100 viewers in the hall as well as more than 70 thousand national television viewers saw practically everything that two top teams could wish for and were able to show. ACH Volley's best scorers were mainly the young players - Vid Jakopin, Alen Šket, Alen Pajenk, Matevž Kamnik, Oliver Venno, Andrej Flajs, Dejan Vinčič, Ramon Gato contributed to this great game with superb blocks. Their opponents simply couldn’t find an answer to successfully battle against the exceptionally passionate hosts. All the time, the audience in the hall served as a seventh player, since the event was led by Urban Simčič on one side and a number of fans on the other side. During the final rally, that is the fifth set, the hall literally exploded as it celebrated the victory. At the end of the game, all the team members and their coaches, headed by Herman Rigelnik, MA the honourable chairman of ACH Volley , presented themselves to the audience. Andrej Flajs, the team’s captain, thanked all the loyal fans and sponsors, who were the main reason why the team was able to achieve such a great success. Glenn Hoag, the team's leading coach, was proud of his protégés, Andrej Flajs also added: "You just cannot lose in front of such an audience. Everything fell into the right place, the feeling is amazing and this is most certainly the best gift for my birthday." And what did the opponents say? Stefan Chrtiansky, Hypo Tirol's leading coach: "We have had a great season and mustn’t be disappointed. Our goal was to get into the next competition. Now, we have to have a good night’s sleep and tomorrow we will wake up proud of ourselves. It was great seeing the competitive spirit just bursting from two equal teams. My congratulations to Bled!
