Responsibility towards the social environment

ACH, d.d. operates in compliance with applicable legislation and meets its statutory obligations towards the government. However, its responsibility towards the social environment is reflected elsewhere as well.

The Company makes charitable donations and sponsors:

  • cultural,
  • sports,
  • humanitarian events.

To be part of the social environment means to support those individuals and organisations that through their acts, activities and aspirations promote the values of a modern, ethical and multicultural society. The Company operates local, national and international sponsorship and donation schemes.

In the area of sports, ACH, d.d. allocates most of its sponsorship funds to the volleyball club ACH Volley , but in the last few seasons it has also been patron to the best Cycling club, Adria Mobil, and the Slovenian speedway champion Matej Žagar.

Besides expressing its commitment to culture through its own collection of work of arts, the company also supports, in terms of financing and execution, cultural projects of national importance. In 2008, ACH, d.d. extended its partnership with the Cankarjev Dom Culture and Congress Centre in Ljubljana. Some of its notable cultural projects that were met with a very wide response include: collaboration with the National Gallery of Slovenia in putting on the exhibition Slovene Impressionists and Their Time 1892-1920, collaboration with the International Centre of Graphic Arts in putting on Resistance, an exhibition of Gabrijel Stupica's work in Ljubljana, and finally, ongoing cooperation with the Slovene Academy of Science and Arts (ZRC SAZU). Another of its important cultural projects is the ACH Gallery, which chiefly holds exhibitions of pieces from the company’s own art collection. In 2008, ACH, d.d. completed a joint project with the National Gallery of Slovenia commemorating Slovenian painter and teacher Anton Ažbe with a display of his busts in the ACH, d.d. and National Galleries.

In 2008, ACH, d.d. received special acknowledgements and awards for its pursuits in the area of social responsibility, among them a special award for loyalty from Cankarjev dom in Ljubljana.

ACH, d.d. is also a dedicated supporter of organisations devoted to the wellbeing and health of children and adults. It has particularly strong links with the Slovenian UNICEF Committee, and in 2008, it provided financial and other active support to the Kresnička Crisis Centre at the Radovljica Social Work Centre. ACH, d.d. has also aided the Ljubljana Institute of Oncology and the Ljubljana Cancer Society. Furthermore, it makes regular donations to schools and kindergartens in its immediate neighbourhood.
